HYDERABAD: Senior Sindh Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has pledged every possible help to the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) acknowledging that its faculty and graduates have proved their mettle.

Addressing the 18th convocation of the MUET here on Wednesday, he said the university had been recognised internationally because of its standards and foreign institutions attached due importance to it.

He congratulated the passing out graduates and hoped that they would emerge successful in their career in this era of competition and become nation builders.

A total of 575 students were awarded degrees, merit certificates and silver and gold medals. Aisha Abdul Sattar and Mohammad Fawad won two gold medals each. Five PhD degrees were also awarded to successful students.

Speaking at the ceremony, MUET vice chancellor Dr Aslam Uqaili said that the university was not only an academic institution but also a research organisation. “It has more PhDs than any other university,” he said.

Dr Uqaili urged the government to help the MUET establish an engineering college in Thatta, which was a deserving but neglected district.
