SUKKUR: Residents of three villages located near Thull town of Jacobabad district held a protest demonstration on Monday against a big police operation conducted in the area by plain-clothes policemen in 25 vans a day earlier.

Elders of Haji Meeran Khoso, Nasrullah Khoso and Mohammed Sharif Khoso villages also held a press conference at the Thull Press Club to inform the media about the operation. They said they feared about the lives of three persons taken away by the police.

The Khosos said that the police in civvies stormed the villages named after them and carried out a house-to-house search operation. They said a total of 22 people were rounded up and their belongings including gold jewellery, cash, valuables and licensed arms were taken away during the operation, led by A-Section SHO Abdul Wahid Buriro. Nineteen of the detained people were later released but three others, Ishaq Khoso, Misri Khoso and Niaz Khoso, were taken to an undisclosed place, they added.

They demanded immediate release of the detained persons, return of the “looted” cash and assets and action against the police party.
