RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Saturday launched a campaign against illegal construction and razed two shops at Saidpur Road.

It was apparently first operation in the area after two years which was carried out by the RDA enforcement cell on the directives of Commissioner Zahid Saeed who is also director general of theRDA.

However, the RDA spokesman Hafiz Irfan claimed that operations against illegal constructions and encroachments in the city were ongoing. He said that the RDA director general had directed the enforcement wing to take strict action against illegal constructions and encroachments without any fear and influence.

On Saturday, he said the RDA team demolished two shops at Saidpur Road as they were constructed without the approval of the authority.
