QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly has demanded cancellation of licence of Total Parco Company Limited if it does not continue its business in the province.

A session of the assembly presided over by Acting Speaker Mir Abdul Quddoos Bizenjo made the demand in a resolution it adopted on Tuesday night. Provincial Minister for Planning and Development, Dr Hamid Khan Achakzai, Provincial Adviser to Chief Minister on Education, Sardar Raza Mohammad Baraich, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party MPA Syed Liaquat Ali Agha and other legislator jointly tabled the resolution which urged the government to make Total Parco Company Limited Pakistan to continue its business in Balochistan.

“The government should cancel the license of Total Parco Company Limited Pakistan if it does not continue its business in Balochistan, as according to marketing license formalities, the company is bound to continue its business activities in all four federating units of the country,” the resolution said.

The movers said that Total Parco Company Limited Pakistan invited people of Qila Saifullah, Loralai, Sibi and Quetta to invest in its projects and resultantly, people her invested Rs One billion in its business.

They said: “Now the company wants to close its business in Balochistan on the pretext of poor law and order situation which would cause unemployment besides damaging the investment of local people in gasoline stations of the firm”.

The Speaker put the resolution before the house which adopted it unanimously.

The same movers also presented another resolution which demanded of the government to give special relaxation to Balochistan on head of custom duty and taxes. “This house demands of the federal government to give special relaxation to Balochistan province on head of custom duty and taxes in order to discourage smuggling so that exports of Balochistan could be increased,” the resolution said.

The house unanimously passed the rsolution.

The members of the Balochistan Assembly expressed their deep sorrow and grief over the tragic accident near Aab-e-Gum area which caused loss of precious lives. They urged the government to conduct a thorough inquiry into the incident besides bringing those elements to justice who were responsible for this accident.
