UPPER DIR/CHITRAL: Opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah on Tuesday warned the government that strong protest would be launched if the earthquake affected people were not properly rehabilitated before the winter season got more intense.

He was visiting the earthquake hit areas of Upper Dir and Chitral districts.

Addressing PPP workers in district assembly hall in Upper Dir, Mr Shah said the earthquake affected people were suffering from another torment in the shape of harsh winter. He asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to spend at least three to four hours with their children in the open sky in cold weather to feel the difficulties of the quake-hit people.

The opposition leader alleged that judiciary wasn’t taking any action against alleged corruption in the Nandipuor power project, and the Metro bus projects. “Judiciary and media are used only against the PPP,” he insisted.

Khurshid Shah said that the credit of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project went to PPP, adding the PPP government also gave the charge of Gawadar port operations to China from Singapore.

In Chitral, the opposition leader, while addressing a meeting, said ample time had been given to the government for redressing the issues of the affected people as the opposition didn’t want confrontation with the ruling party.

He announced 10,000 bags of wheat, 60,000 beds, three thermal generators of 250kw each for upper Chitral on behalf of the Sindh government for the quake hit people.
