SANGHAR: A 12-year-old girl and her elder sister with gunshot wounds were rushed to the Sanghar Civil Hospital on Tuesday but a cause leading to the firing could not be established till late in the evening.

Neighbours told the area police that the elder sister shot the younger one and then herself after a brawl that took place between them.

Doctors at the civil hospital said that Bakhtawar, 12, was brought dead and the other girl, Kamli, was referred to the Peoples Medical College Hospital in Nawabshah due to her critical condition. The victims were residents of Qasim Rajar village, some six kilometres from Sanghar city.

Their mother was also quoted as saying that they quarrelled over some matter before she heard gunshots.

Sanghar police said they were trying to ascertain as to whose gun was used in the shooting and what might have led the young girl to shoot her sister, if the claim of a quarrel between them turned out to be true. They said the wounded girl’s statement could help them reach a conclusion. No FIR was registered till late in the evening.
