KARAK: Two persons including the ringleader of a kidnappers’ gang were killed and another was seriously injured in a firing incident here on Monday.

Police said that Murad Ali alias Muraday of Kamali Banda, the ringleader of a kidnappers’ gang, opened firing on his rivals Shakirullah and Imranullah.

Both of them received bullet injuries, however, they killed the outlaw on the spot in retaliatory firing, they added.

Police said that both the injured were shifted to Latamber civil hospital but Shakirullah succumbed to his injures before getting any medical treatment. Imranullah was referred to district headquarters hospital in Karak where his condition was stated to be serious.

The bodies of slain Murad Ali and Shakirullah were handed over to their heirs after autopsy. Sources said that Murad Ali kidnapped a relative of Shakirullah about a year ago and there were serious differences between them.

SCHOLARSHIPS: The elders of Teri have demanded of the oil and gas exploration company MOL to release scholarships to the students of Banda Daud Shah tehsil.

They said in a meeting here on Monday that the students had appeared in the test for scholarships about a year ago.

The meeting of elders was held with former councillor Inayatullah in the chair.

The elders said that MOL conducted test for awarding merit scholarships to students of colleges a year ago but results of the test were not declared by the company.

They said that merit scholarships should be awarded to the students without further delay.
