ISLAMABAD: Overseas Pakistani workers sent home nearly $5 billion in the first three months (July to September) of this fiscal year, a growth of 4 per cent over the same quarter of last year, the State Bank said on Monday.
The inflow of workers’ remittances during September 2015 amounted to $1.775bn, which is 16pc higher than August 2015 and 1.57pc higher than September 2014.
Inflows from Saudi Arabia, UAE, US, UK, GCC countries (including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman) and EU countries amounted to $483.2m, $428.1m, $261m, $233.27m, $201.34m and $33.3m, respectively, compared with $495.63m, $396.28m, $252.07m, $226.72m, $216.84m and $34.45m in September 2014.
Remittances received from Norway, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Japan and other countries during the month collectively amounted to $135.65m as against $126.5m in September 2014.
