LAKKI MARWAT: Police have booked the principals and owners of 29 private schools for poor security arrangements at their educational institutions.

A police official said on Saturday that the SHOs and officials of different police stations visited various schools in the district and found that security arrangements at many schools were not up to the mark.

“This shows that lives of the students and teachers are still at risk,” he said, adding that school heads had failed to improve security despite several reminders.

The official said that heads of all the schools had been asked to take advantage of the one click SOS alert service which would enable them to inform police about any emergency through their mobile phones.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Bakhtiar Khan asked the authorities concerned to ensure implementation of Muharram security plan in the district.

The directive was issued at a meeting held here in the district headquarters complex, Tajazai, on Saturday. Mr Bakhtiar took over charge of his office on Saturday and presided over a meeting to discuss security plan for Muharram. Officials of the district administration and other departments also attended the meeting.

The deputy commissioner directed officials of the tehsil municipal administration to clean the routes of processions and improve lighting system on the routes in the urban locality.
