RAWALPINDI: Two persons were injured when a group of armed men opened fire on the premises of a private school at Adiala Road on Friday afternoon.

However, there were no students present when the incident occurred and those injured included a male staff member and his friend.

Kalsoom Rehman, the principal of the school, told Dawn that two girl students from class III had quarreled over the use of a swing in the school earlier in the day.

After the school hours, the mother of one of the girls reached the school and started shouting at the principal.

“When my son, Shahzor Rehman, who works as a coordinator for the school, tried to pacify the woman, she exchanged harsh words with him and left the school at about 2pm.”

Later, the girl’s father along with another man came to the school and got into a row with Rehman. But after the intervention of the security guards, they left the school, hurling threats on Rehman.

“At about 4:30pm, the girl’s father along with 10 to 15 people came back and started beating my son,” the principal alleged.

When one of Rehman’s friends Wajihul Hassan tried to rescue him, the outsiders opened fire injuring both of them. The injured were taken to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital.
