OKARA: Three people, including a PPP candidate for the slot of union council chairman, were killed in Mandi Ahmedabad while two others were injured during a campaign for local government (LG) elections on Friday.

According to police, Malik Aslam Channa, who was contesting election for the slot of union council chairman, was holding a corner meeting at about 10pm when unidentified motorcyclists reached there and opened indiscriminate fire on the gathering.

Aslam Channa, his supporter Azmat and an identified man were killed on the spot while two others received bullet injuries.

The motorcyclists succeeded in getting escape.

The injured were shifted to Depalpur Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
