GWADAR: A suspected militant was killed and another injured during a search operation conducted by security forces in the Prom area of Panjgur district on Monday evening.

During the search one suspected militant was arrested and illegal arms and ammunition were found in his possession.

A spokesman for the Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan said that troops had moved into the area on information about the presence of militants belonging to a banned organisation and launched a search operation.The militants, according to the spokesman, opened fire on the FC personnel when they reached Prom.

The personnel retaliated and in a heavy exchange of fire one of the suspects was killed, another injured and a third one was arrested. The FC personnel seized a large quantity of weapons from the militants’ hideout, including RPG rockets, mortar rockets, pistols, wireless sets and mobile phones.

The FC arrested another suspect from Sibi in a raid. They seized SMGs, 7mm and 8mm rifles, and bullets from his possession. The suspect was handed over to the authorities concerned for investigation.
