OKARA: Police on Saturday registered cases against the supporters of two political parties and an independent candidate for violating the election code of conduct.

Sub-inspector Muhammad Aslam of the A-Division police station found Qadir, a supporter of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Khalil, a backer of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, and independent candidate Chaudhry Riazul Haq’s supporter Ashraf using heavy amplifiers in their camps for canvassing.

Police registered three cases against them (FIRs No 1054, 1055 and 1056) under section 3 of the Sound System Act.

ACCIDENT: Three members of a family were killed and another was injured when a van hit their motorcycle on Okara-Deepalpur Road on Saturday.

Muhammad Arshad, along with his wife, son Mohsin (9) and daughter Iqra (7), was on his way to Sahiwal from Deepalpur by motorcycle. Near 40/D village, an oncoming passenger van hit the bike as a result of which Arshad and his children died on the spot. His wife was taken to hospital with injuries.

The Saddar police registered a case.

ROBBERY: Five armed men deprived a businessman of valuables during a strike at his house at Model Housing Society on Saturday.

The gang stormed Azhar Sultan’s house and collected cash and gold ornaments after holding up the family. They escaped without resistance.
