RAWALPINDI: In flagrant violation of the Geneva Convention the Indians are subjecting Pakistani troops in their possession to the worst type of barbarities and inhuman torture. Pakistan forces have picked up bodies of Pakistani soldiers from the area recaptured by our troops in Fazilka sector who were mercilessly slaughtered. The Indians are perhaps forgetting that a much larger number of Indian troops, including officers, are in Pakistan’s possession and they, too, can be made to meet a similar fate. The Indians have also put on fire the Pakistani border village Gaiwind held by them. A spokesman of the Defence Ministry said: “It has been reported that in a number of cases Indians have tortured and killed Pakistani armed personnel after capturing them. From the area recaptured by our troops in Fazilka sector a number of dead bodies of Pakistani soldiers were recovered. The hands of these soldiers had been tied behind their backs and their stomachs had been cut open from one end to the other. These Pakistani soldiers had been taken prisoner by the Indians earlier and they obviously became a victim of Indian brutality when Pakistan prisoners refused to give out information other than that laid down in the Geneva Convention.”
