Is Anil Kapoor bringing hit sitcom Modern Family to India?

Is Anil Kapoor bringing hit sitcom Modern Family to India?

We wonder which Indian actor is going to play Phil Dunphy... or Jay Pritchett?

After adapting an intense drama series like 24 for the Indian audience, it appears that Anil Kapoor is now ready to take on a lighter, fluffier show, like Modern Family.

Well, at least that's what his tweet indicates.

He tweeted pictures of his daughter, Rhea Kapoor, on the set of the American hit show, as well as a photograph of an associate who posed with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who plays the role of a homosexual lawyer named Mitch.

Although the rumours began to circulate in December last year, it seemed Kapoor still had a long way to go before anything could materialise.

Bollywood may be a progressive fraternity, but television material is still more conservative. Is India really ready for a Modern Family TV show?

Talking to Times of India back then, Kapoor reasoned: "I think India is ready for a Modern Family. The middle-class is growing rapidly and we have a new government that makes the future look bright."

Told from the perspective of an unseen documentary filmmaker, the series offers an honest, often-hilarious perspective of family life. Modern Family chronicles the unusual kinship of the extended Pritchett clan, a brood that includes patriarch Jay; his younger Latina wife, Gloria, and her son; Jay's daughter, Claire, and her family; and Jay's son, Mitchell, who lives with his partner, Cameron.

We're very curious about the casting. Who's going to be playing Gloria? Or Phil? Guess we'll just have to wait to find out.

Actually, you can not actually make an Indianized version of Modern Family. They dont have clean streets, Homosexuals or Model-like wives. It will just be a blind copy. No offence. I am an Indian BTW. :)

@Ahmed : True point about that "no clean streets" but haven't you heard of trick photography :) Ramayan/Mahabharat serials bhool gaye :) Moreover they will do majority of shootings inside studios. Or may be the Indian version will indeed be really Indian with "not so clean" street. Jokes apart, I think the modern family concept wouldnt really fly as well in India. They will definitely have to Indian-ize it and it might lose its essence there! lets see...

how about we do something original instead of simply copying the west. we would take naseeruddin shah any day over the other bollywood actresses with their fake and annoying american accents.

Well even if we don't support some one, it's ok! But we are so eager to criticise makes this whole notion of modern era a debuche! Cut him some slack! He got 24! It ran! It did good! Bad roads or no model aunties! Then u not staying in Colaba like me know it! Freedom of speech, abused by unwanted criticism! Great job
