LAKKI MARWAT/KOHAT/KARAK: The district council of Lakki Marwat approved annual budget of Rs3.6 billion while the district governments of Kohat and Karak presented their budgets for year 2015-16 on Wednesday.

The budget session of Lakki Marwat district council was presided over by district naib nazim Haji Arab Khan. 

Presenting the annual budget, district nazim Ishfaq Ahmad Khan Meenakhel said that the total outlay of the non-developmental expenditures was Rs3.6billion. “Of it, Rs 3.4billion will go for the salaries of 9,603 government employees while Rs256 million will be provided to the line departments,” he said.

The district government has allocated Rs92.59 million for revenue and estate department, Rs0.95 million for civil defence, Rs2.7 billion for education department, Rs361.6 million for health department, Rs46.09 million for works and services department, Rs270.7 million for public health engineering department, Rs49.22 million for local government department, Rs42.46 million for agriculture department, Rs43.18 million for livestock department, Rs5.09 million for cooperative department, Rs10.33 million for social welfare and special education department and Rs4.10 million for sports and culture department.

In Kohat, district nazim Maulana Niaz Mohammad presented more than Rs3.369 billion budget for the year 2015-2016 in the first formal session of the district council on Wednesday.

The session was presided over by deputy district nazim Abdur Rasheed. In the budget, Rs3.157 million has been allocated for payment of salaries to government employees whereas Rs230 million has been set aside for petty works like repairs etc.

The district nazim advised the members of the council to start preparing annual development reports (ADPs) of important works in their constituencies so that work could be started on those after provincial government released funds to the district.

Also, the district government of Karak presented its annual budget for the fiscal year 2015-2016 on Wednesday. The total outlay of the budget is Rs3.59 billion.

The budget was presented by district nazim Dr Umar Daraz and the meeting of the council was chaired by district naib nazim Sajjad Khan.

Presenting the budget, the district nazim said that Rs170 million was earmarked for the development of the district and the reaming amount would be spent on non-developmental works.

Mr Daraz said that the district government had no funds to cope with the natural calamities. He said that so far no clear instructions were given by the provincial government regarding the utilisation of the developmental funds.

He said that drinking water would be provided to people from all those water supply schemes, which had been occupied by a few influential persons.

The district nazim approved to give one-month extra salary to the employees of finance department for preparing the annual budget in a short span of time.
