Call to set up SOS villages, old homes in Balochistan

QUETTA: The Commander Southern Command, Lt General Muhammad Naseer Janjua, stressed the need for establishing SOS villages and social welfare institutions like shelters for homeless children and elderly people in Balochistan.

Gen Janjua was speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of a home for old women on Tuesday.

The project would initially house 24 women which would be raised to 50 once the project was completed. Besides accommodation, the women would get food and medical facilities.

The Commander Southern Command lauded the efforts of the SOS organisation.

Peace was returning to Balochistan where people now felt safe, he said.

Retired Brigadier Abdul Razaq Baloch, head of the SOS village, briefed Lt General Janjua and lauded efforts made by him for restoring peace and order in Balochistan. Ms Raheela Durrani MPA and Mrs Surayyia Allahdin, a social worker also spoke at the function.
