CJM win girls throwball titles

KARACHI: Convent Jesus of Mary School hogged the limelight here on Saturday when its junior (White) and senior teams won the respective throwball titles in style at the 6th Culligan Girls Senior & Junior Throwball Tournament 2015 held at The City School Darakhshan Campus.

The event was organised by Sindh Throwball Association in Collaboration with The City School DK Campus and Pakistan Throwball Federation.

Captain Tahir Naveed, Additional Inspector General of Police and President, Pakistan Throwball Federation was the chief guest in the closing ceremony and distributed cash prize of Rs 10,000 to the winning Junior team and Rs 10,000 to the triumphant Senior team. Marrium Khan of Convent Jesus of Mary School was declared the Best Player of Senior Group.

Later, PTF General Secretary Maqbool Arain announced that the Pakistan Junior U-18 girls & boys throwball teams will participate in the Asian Junior U-18 Throwball Championship at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in December. Teams from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Bangladesh, India, China, Nepal, and Turkey will compete at the high-profile event).

Results:

Junior Group:

Semi-finals: Haque Academy Red bt Convent Jesus of Mary School (Gray) 2-0; Convent Jesus of Mary School (White) bt Habib Girls School 2-1.

Third position: Convent Jesus of Mary School (Gray) bt Habib Girls School 2-0.

Final: Convent Jesus of Mary School (White) bt Haque Academy 2-0.

Senior Group:

Semi-finals: Agha Khan HS School Red bt Nixor College 2-1; Convent Jesus & Mary School bt The City School PAF 2-0.

Third position: The City School PAF bt Nixor College 2-1

Final: Convent Jesus of Mary School bt Agha Khan H.S. School Red 2-0.
