KARACHI: Karachi Whites, Hyderabad, Lahore Whites, Fata and Karachi Blues joined Rawalpindi for the Super Six stage of the PCB Inter-region Under-19 One-day Cricket Tournament after sealing victories in the last round of league matches on Wednesday.

Karachi Whites ended Lahore Blues’ hopes of reaching the next phase of the competition with a six-wicket win here at the UBL Sports Complex.

Mohammad Asad (77 off 72 balls, eight fours and one six) and Aashir Ahmed (58 off 49, 10 boundaries) played useful knocks as Karachi Whites reached 209-4 in 32 overs to wrap up the Group ‘A’ fixture.

Hyderabad trounced Quetta by nine wickets at the Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad to finish in the pool behind Karachi Whites. They chased down a modest target of 89 by collecting 91-1 in 18.3 overs with Kamran Rehmani striking 47 off 54 balls (six fours and two sixes).

Lahore Whites booked their spot as Group ‘B’ runners-up when they crushed Abbottabad by 102 runs at the LCCA Ground in Lahore.

Mohammad Aamir (69 off 124 balls, seven fours), Fahad Jamil (61 off 69, four fours) and Hannan Rafiq (53 off 35, nine boundaries) guided Lahore Whites to 239 all out in 39.1 overs.

Abbottabad, in reply, were undone by Salman Fayyaz who grabbed six wickets for 18 runs as the visitors were sent packing for 137 inside 36 overs.

Rawalpindi warmed up for the Super Six by cantering to their fifth successive victory as Multan became their latest victims in a 96-run thrashing at the Lahore Country Club Ground in Muridke.

Zeeshan Malik hammered a brilliant 121 from 121 deliveries with the aid of 11 boundaries and a brace of sixes to help Rawalpindi pile up 250-5 in the stipulated 50 overs.

Multan’s response to the chase was a feeble 154 in 45.3 overs despite Umar Sadiq scoring 65.

Fata finished atop Group ‘C’ by handing Faisalabad a 10-wicket walloping at the Bhutto Cricket Ground in Islamabad.

Ilyas Ahmed captured four wickets for 30 runs and Hayatullah took 3-15 as Faisalabad folded up for a paltry 104 in 40.4 overs before Mohammad Umar (52 off 72 balls, five fours and two sixes) and Ibrar Ahmed (41) saw Fata home in 23.1 overs.

Karachi Blues sealed the remaining Super Six place when they overpowered Azad Jammu Kashmir by 92 runs at the Mirpur Cricket Stadium.

Azam Khan’s 70 (82 balls, eight fours and one six) inspired Karachi Blues to 218 all out in 48.2 overs. Azad Jammu Kashmir, in their chase, capitulated for only 126 in 46 overs of torturous batting.

The Super Six stage will begin from Saturday with Karachi Whites taking on Fata at the Jinnah Stadium in Gujranwala and Rawalpindi meeting Hyderabad at Sialkot’s Jinnah Stadium.
