PESHAWAR: The government has started 11-day campaign to carry out spray and protect the people against insect-borne diseases, especially malaria.

The exercise is aimed at protecting people against mosquito bites, which causes malaria. “Besides spraying the breeding places, we are also scaling up public awareness regarding prevention of diseases,” said Nasir Ghafoor Khan, general manager of the Water and Sanitation Services, in a statement on Wednesday.

The campaign has covered Malakandher and Palosai union councils, he said, adding that UC Shaheen Town, Tehkal and University Town would also be covered during the drive.

People will be advised to use impregnated bed nets to stay safe from mosquito bites. He said that the campaign had been launched in view of the changing weather due to which the people risked mosquito- and other insects-borne diseases. — Bureau Report
