LAHORE: The Regional Tax Office of the Federal Board of Revenue on Tuesday got frozen two bank accounts of Arsalan Iftikhar, the son of former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, and his trading company over non-payment of Rs7.2 million income tax.

Officials associated with the development said Arsalan, who runs a company titled FEA (pvt) Limited, had not been paying income tax for the last six months or so despite show-cause notices to the company and its director Arsalan.

They said the RTO during audit of the company for 2013-14 detected Rs3.7m tax default by Arsalan as company director and Rs3.5m by his company.

An enforcement team detected two accounts of Arsalan and FEA at a Silk Bank branch in the provincial capital and got them frozen. The team also recovered Rs2.8m from the account of Arsalan.
