DADU: Women and children with symptoms of gastroenteritis are being brought to the Dadu Civil Hospital in large numbers as temperatures across the district have been rising lately.

Two children, 11-month-old Hakeem Lashari, and a 20-day-baby, died at the hospital on Monday taking the gastro toll to 21 within the month of August, a doctor at the hospital said.

Dr Insaaf Mangsi said the hospital’s children ward was running short of beds due to an unusual increase in the number of such patients coming from different parts of the district.

He said despite the accommodation problem, patients were being provided prompt treatment and due attention by doctors and paramedics.
