RAWALPINDI: A man shot and killed his daughter in Sadiqabad this Sunday, after she refused to accept the marriage proposal of her parents’ choice, police said.

The suspect, identified as Tariq Mehmood, allegedly shot his daughter Sumbal, who was a student in the tenth grade.

Sub-inspector Abdul Majeed, who is leading the investigation, told Dawn that the victim was killed by her father after she refused to marry a boy chosen by her parents because she was in love with someone else.

He said Mehmood grew angry when she saw his daughter with her partner, and tried to keep her from meeting the boy again.

Mehmood, who is an estate agent by profession, fled the scene after killing his daughter. The victim’s body was taken to the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital for a postmortem.
