PESHAWAR: Candidates of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf were elected on Sunday nazims in nine districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, followed by the Jamaat-i-Islami which bagged the posts in four and the PML-N in three.
The PTI had absolute majority in only a few districts where it did not require support of any other party. In the other districts, political parties had entered into alliances at the local level.
The PTI got its candidates elected in Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Karak, Haripur, Battagram and Tor Ghar districts. The JI managed to win in Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Buner and Chitral districts.
The PML-N won in Mansehra, Swat and Shangla ditricts, the ANP in Swabi and Mardan, the PPP in Malakand and Lakki Marwat and the JUI-F in Hangu and Kohat.
