RAWALPINDI: A trader was killed over a minor dispute at the Bara Bazaar in the limits of the City police on Saturday.

The police said Sami Jan was running a business of crockery at the National Market of Bara Bazaar. Two days ago, Sami and Aqeel Zaman, another crockery seller, exchanged hot words over a minor issue.

On Saturday, the two traders again entered into arguments and later Aqeel along with Roheel Zaman and Adeel Zaman shot Sami. The injured was taken to the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital where he was pronounced dead. After the incident, traders in the market pulled down their shutters.

“Initially, it was reported that one person was killed during a clash between two groups of traders but it has now been learnt that it was a dispute between two individuals,” Station House Officer (SHO) City police Mustafa Kamal told Dawn.

He said the deceased received a single bullet to his stomach. The hospital handed over the body to the relatives of the victim who took it to Peshawar for burial.

The SHO said an FIR had been lodged and investigations started into the incident. He said the police would soon arrest the three men nominated in the FIR.
