PESHAWAR: The students of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Sharingal, Upper Dir, on Friday expressed concern over the delay in affiliation of the pharmacy department with the Pharmacy Council and threatened to start protest demonstrations if the demand was not accepted immediately.

“We have been on strike for the past two weeks, but the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government failed to take any notice of the situation,” a group of students, including Nazeefullah, Inamullah, Abbas Nisar, Zahoor Ahmed and Suleman, told mediapersons here.

They said that dozens of pharmacy department students had completed their studies, but their degrees were of no use due to non-registration of the department with the Pharmacy Council. The department, they said, had been established six years ago, but the issue of registration was not resolved so far.

They said that Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had also promised to resolve the issue within a month, but he also did not take practical steps for the purpose. They said that 86 students were still enrolled in the pharmacy department, but they were uncertain about their future.— Bureau Report
