GWADAR: Suspected militants carried out a hand grenade attack in Gwadar on Monday night, which resulted in the death of two people while another two suffered injuries.

“Militants hurled a hand grenade at a shop in Mullah Fazal Chowk area of Gwadar,” said a police official.

The police official also added that the militants managed to flee the site of the attack.

The injured were rushed to District Headquarters Hospital Gwadar for medical treatment.

Security personnel reached the site and cordoned off the area, and also started an initial investigation into the incident.

Following the attack, shops in the area closed down and panic prevailed in the city.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

Separatist insurgents in the area have been targeting security forces, government officials and vital national installations for over a decade.

Security forces have intensified their actions in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan after the announcement of National Action Plan to combat terrorism in the country.
