PM chairs high-level meeting on national security

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review the internal security situation in the country and implementation of the National Action Plan.

The meeting was held at Prime Minister House and attended by Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Federal Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi and other high-ranking officials.

The meeting deliberated on various aspects of internal security and discussed implementation of the National Action Plan.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif constituted a special committee for the implementation of the National Action Plan for counter-terrorism in December, 2014, in the wake of the Army Public School attack in Peshawar to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism.
