MUZAFFARABAD: The Revolutionary Council in Occupied Kashmir has appealed to the Afro-Asian countries to help the freedom fighters against Indian colonialism in the State. The appeal broadcast by Sadae Kashmir Radio tonight [Aug 20], said that India was trying to be a colonial power and the first victim of its colonial designs was Occupied Kashmir.

It said India was also aspiring to become the paramount power and have its hegemony over the Afro-Asian world. The Council said that the fifty lakh Kashmiris were not only fighting for their own liberation from the Indian yoke but also struggling for the ultimate salvation of the African-Asian countries. The Revolutionary Council appealed in particular to China, Indonesia, the UAR, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey and Burma to extend moral and material support to the freedom fighters in Occupied Kashmir and support their cause at the United Nations.

The appeal said: “Most of you have already succeeded in breaking the shackles of colonialism, while others are still fighting. We, the people of Jammu and Kashmir, have been subjugated for the last 18 years by India.”

[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies], there are indications that the Sikh leader, Master Tara Singh, is planning a “spectacular agitation” to press his demand for a “self-determined political status” for the Sikhs, “The Statesman” said yesterday. The newspaper quoted sources close to Master Tara Singh as saying he would direct the agitation from Gurdwara Rakabganj in Delhi.

Giani Ajmer Singh, secretary of the Akali Dal said in [an] interview that Master Tara Singh would divulge his next step at a Working Committee meeting in Ludhiana on August 22.
