Last week two Pakistani films Moor and Dekh Magar Pyaar Say created a stir in showbiz circles. If social media is anything to go by, and if early reviews are taken into account, Moor directed by Jami seems to have gathered more accolades than DMPS helmed by Asad-ul-Haq.
The fact that Pakistani films are now making their presence felt amidst big Bollywood and Hollywood releases is a good omen. While it is difficult to claim that the revival of cinema has begun, it is a good beginning. More films challenging established narratives are required though. Still, things are looking up.
