MANSEHRA: Dr Habib Ahmad (TI) assumed the charge of acting vice-chancellor of Hazara University on Tuesday. He replaced Dr Shahzad Ahmad, who tendered his resignation in June this year after several students and staffers were injured in a hand grenade attack at the university.

The provincial higher education department issued notification of appointment of Dr Habib as acting vice-chancellor on Monday.

Dr Habib remained associated with several research and development organisations before joining Hazara University as professor in March 2005.

He served the WWF-Pakistan, higher education department, and Pakistan Agricultural Research Council for almost 21 years. His research career was started when he joined National Agricultural Research Centre Islamabad as junior scientific officer on February 2, 1986.
