RAWALPINDI: An activist of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and his cousin who were killed in a shoot-out with robbers on Sunday night were buried at a local graveyard amid slogans against the police.

Raja Ansar and his cousin were shot dead when three gunmen entered the public call office in Mohallah Raja Sultan owned by the former to hand over cash and cell phones. When Raja Ansar tried to overpower them, the robbers opened fire on him killing him on the spot.

On hearing the gunshots, Raja Ansar’s cousin, who also owned a shop across the road, rushed to his rescue but he was also shot dead. This ensued an exchange of firing between other members of the family during Raja Ansar’s son Raja Usman was also injured.

After killing the two people and injuring another, the robbers managed to escape from the scene but police were unable to track them down, Farooq Ahmed, a resident of the area told Dawn.

A large number of relatives, friends and residents of Muhallah Raja Sultan attended the funeral prayer of the two young men.
