THE Ankara dam, built in 1939, stretches over an area of 17,000 metres. It is the sole source of water supply for the people of Gwadar and it is gradually running dry. Normally the dam supplies water to Jiwani, Peshakaan and Nalent, but nowadays people do not have enough water because of lack of heavy rains.
This lack of water has now forced people to move to other areas. However, this is not a permanent solution. I appeal to the government to resolve this issue on a priority basis.
