KARACHI: Eight teams will compete in the 10th NBP Cup basketball tournament which begins at the Arambagh floodlit court on Monday, organisers said.

A sum of Rs 60,000 has been allocated for the event. According to the prize money break-up, the winner gets Rs 10,000 while runners-up receives Rs 7,000 besides consolation prizes of Rs3,000.

The teams have been drawn into two groups and top two from each will qualify for semi-finals which will be played on Aug 9. The final is fixed for Aug 11.

The event will form basis to select Karachi team for the coming national inter-division basketball championship which is being held at Sialkot from Aug 18 to 23.

Groups:

A: South Whites, Central Whites, South Greens, Korangi.

B: Central Greens, Malir, East Whites, East Greens.
