According to police, the vehicle going from Mena Doog to Darmdala taking wedding guests skidded off the road and fell into the river near Doog Payeen. As a result, two women and a seven-year-old girl were killed and five others were injured, while seven others were stated to be missing.

The victims were identified as Khayam Bibi, Sajida and Roqia, 7.

The missing people included five-year-old Samia, her three-year-old brother Wajid, Dil Aram and her six-year-old son Israr, Bakhtawar Jana and Abdullah.

The injured were identified as driver Ikram ul Haq, Mohammad Rahman, 12-year-old son Elham, 16-year-old daughter Azmeena and Mohammad Wazir.

Deputy commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh told the reporter on phone that they had received information of two dead, while seven were missing in the incident. “Seven people are still missing, while two are dead and five people injured in the incident,” he added.

Soon after the incident, announcements were made from mosques in the nearby villages for help in recovering the drowned people.

However, according to the local residents, they were facing difficulties in the rescue work owing to low flood in the River Panjkora.

A local, Sajjad Khan, said they had seen two children near Sheringal who were swept away by the strong waves but they were unable to rescue them.
