LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Bar Association called off its protest it had been observing against a female judge’s ‘misbehaviour’ with the bar president after Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik on Saturday paid a surprise visit to the bar.

The bar leaders and members warmly welcomed the chief justice and other judges. The judges spent some time with the lawyers and had an informal chat.

Talking to media, the chief justice said there was no dispute between the bar and bench. He said, “We have come to our home and nobody apologised to anyone.”

Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah said they had come to the bar to have a cup of tea in a pleasant mood.

After the departure of judges, bar president Pir Masood Chishti lauded the gesture of the chief justice. He hoped that no incident of ‘mishaviour’ with any lawyer would occur in future.

The bar had been observing boycott of the court of Justice Erum Sajjad Gull after, what it said, the judge ‘misbehaved’ with president Chishti during hearing of a case.
