Touseef wins cycling gold at Special Olympics

LAHORE: Honour of the day was for Special Olympian cyclist Touseeful Hasan, who bagged gold in a 10-kilometre race at the Long Beach in Los Angeles on Friday.

According to the information made available here, his timing was 22:58:90 as silver medallist Albalooshi Moosa of the UAE was only less than two seconds behind with 23:00:16.

Six cyclists competed in this division competition.

Saira Ikram won the silver for Pakistan in the 100-metre sprint with a timing of 00:18:39. The first position went to Verrissoun Fatima Zahara of Morroco with 00:17:62.

Pakistan’s Asim Zar won the silver in 50-metre freestyle swimming with timing of 00:58:73. Gold medal of this division went to McBean Nicholas of Jamaica.

In traditional basketball pre-final, Pakistan beat Poland 20-17. Top performer for Pakistan was M. Usman.

In the football 5-a-side event, Pakistan is out of the gold medal race as it lost the semi-final and will be playing for third position on Saturday.
