RAWALPINDI: Five people, including a couple, were murdered in three separate incidents in the city on Thursday, police said.

One of the victims was stabbed to death, while the four others were shot dead.

The couple was apparently killed in the name of honour at a brick kiln as both married some three years ago against the wishes of their families and had been living at the kiln in Sadar Bairooni police area.

Mohammad Ismail, the brother of the man, in a complaint told the police that some persons came to the kiln and shot dead the husband and wife, police said.

In another double-murder case, a young man and his cousin were gunned down by their brother-in-law over family dispute in Dhoke Hajjam in Rawat police area. The police were hunting for the alleged killer.

A private parking contractor was stabbed to death by two enraged persons on petty issue at Suzuki stand in Sadar, police said.

Sharif Khan, the parking contractor, had a quarrel with two persons over the issue of parking fee in the morning. However, the issue was settled at that time.

Noor Khan, elder brother of the victim, both the alleged killers came again at midnight and one of them caught hold of his brother while the other stabbed his brother killing him at the spot. Both escaped from the scene.
