Withholding tax

Published July 30, 2015

THIS refers to the banks which are still deducting withholding tax (WHT) at the rate of 0.6pc in spite of finance minister’s repeated announcements.

This tax has adversely affected the public, including small and medium-level traders, and salaried class. It is an unjustified, forced deduction to please – the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The government is accepting every IMF directive to get more loans and put our country under the ever-increasing burden of loans and interest.

I ask Mr Ishaq Dar that he should try to make Pakistan a welfare Muslim state instead of pleasing the IMF.
