LAHORE: The traders’ call for a strike on Aug 1 has begun attracting other segments of society as the Majlis Waddatul Muslimeen has announced its support for the cause.

“We not only announce our support for the strike call but also instruct party activists to take part in it with enthusiasm,” MWM political secretary Nasir Sherazi said here on Tuesday.

He said the withholding tax on bank transactions was a manifestation of the PML-N’s “anti-traders” policies.

He alleged in a statement here that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was taking the decisions on the dictation of the IMF as nowhere in the world such a tax was levied on bank transactions.
