LAHORE: The ruling PML-N is allegedly using government development schemes to promote its candidates for the forthcoming local body elections.

Not only the potential ticket-holders of the party were attending foundation stone laying ceremonies or formal inauguration of various schemes in their respective areas but were also recommending such initiatives, an official of the local government department said.

Lawmakers and other leaders of the PML-N on such occasions also urge the voters to vote for the party candidates if they wish more uplift works in the areas.

On Monday, MPA Ghulam Habib Awan inaugurated a gas supply scheme in Bhima village of Dograi Kalan union council in Wagah Town and urged the people to get PML-N candidate for chairman slot, Sikandar Awan, elected with a thumping majority for the continuity of development work in the area.

He told the audience that funds had been issued for construction of four major roads in the area and work on the same would start soon.
