LAHORE: Renowned former Pakistan weightlifter Chaudhry Mohammad Ameen, who died in Gujranwala, laid to rest there on Sunday night.

Ameen, 62, represented Pakistan in different weightlifting events from 1970 to 1991 in India, Iran, Japan, Syria, Russia and New Zealand.

He also earned gold medal in the South Asian Games.

Ameen remained national champion for 16 years.

His funeral was attended by large number of weightlifters, organisers, relatives and friends.

‘Qul’ will be held on Tuesday at Jamia Masjid Green Town, Gujranwala at 8am.
