KHAR: The delay in declaration of results of around 200 students of Bajaur Agency, who had been charged with using unfair means during the resent Secondary School Certificate examinations by the management of BISE Chakdara, could deprive them of admission to colleges.

Scores of students of grade-10 facing such cases told Dawn here on Friday that their results were still pending despite the passage of time specified for disposal of their cases.

The students said that after submitting appeals against the charges the BISE management had assured them to declare their results by July 2, but unfortunately they failed to dispose of the cases in time. They said that they had already paid the fine imposed by the BISE.

“The results have been withheld on the basis of baseless cases of unfair means, which is a matter of serious concern for us because it could hamper our education,” said Tahseen Khan, a student of a model school in Khar.

Another student, Aminullah, said that the affected students had made several visits to the board to get their results, but to no avail.

The students alleged that the chairman and other staff of the BISE were not taking interest in resolution of the issue. They said that the students would be deprived of getting admission if their results were not announced till Monday, as

most of educational institutions had already closed admissions to first year classes. The students demanded of the governor and Peshawar High Court chief justice to issue orders for immediate declaration of their results. The students also demanded of the education department to reserve seats for them in first year classes in local colleges.

Talking to Dawn, an official of the education department confirmed that results of at least 200 students were withheld or cancelled on the basis of unfair means cases. However, he said that the results of the affected students would be announced till Monday.
