KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has praised the “bold stance” taken by Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah against granting more powers to the Federal Investigation Agency.

According to a statement issued on Monday, he said the MQM fully supported the stand of the CM that giving more powers to the FIA amounted to an attack on Sindh and a great injustice to it.

“The CM has rightly said that legislation should be done to stop such injustices to provinces,” he said.

Mr Hussain assured the CM that the MQM would extend every political, legal and moral support to the Sindh government if it challenged in court the additional powers given to the FIA.

He said Sindh had been treated like a colony for the past 68 years. “The people of Sindh must wake up now and make a united effort for making their province autonomous by ending the currently occupied status,” he said.

He urged the parliamentarians from Sindh to set aside their ideological differences and launch a united effort for legal and constitutional rights of their province.
