RAWALPINDI: A poster designing competition was held under the auspices of Population Welfare department to celebrate World Population Day.

Participants from Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal and Rawalpindi districts participated in the competition titled ‘Vulnerable Population in Emergencies’.

Speaking on the occasion, district population welfare officer Sheerin Shukhan said the World Population Day was being celebrated to focus attention on the importance of population issue.

She said women, children and young people comprise over three quarters of the 50 million people who have been forcibly displaced from their homes by conflict and disasters in the world. Deputy District Officer Population Welfare Babar Zaheer said winners would participate in final contest to be held at provincial level.
