MANSEHRA: The candidates have been going door to door to seek votes from people as re-polling will be held in five union councils of Mansehra district on July 5.

The Election Commission of Pakistan had issued official results of 54 of total 59 union councils earlier this month. However, results of five union councils, including Karnool, Kawai, Gari Habibullah, Hangrai and Mahandri, were withheld owing to theft of ballot boxes and clashes at various polling stations.

Sources said that the ECP had hired services of the same staff deputed for the May 30 LG elections. The re-polling would be held at Chaper Joshal polling station in union council Hangrai, Bonja polling station in Kawai, Nikka Jirad polling station in Mahandri, Baratkot polling station in Gari Habibullah and Dogha polling station in Karnool union council.

The contenders, particularly those in the running for the district and tehsil councils, were active to secure maximum votes to win the seats. “It is a great chance for those who have lost at other polling stations,” said Mohammad Sohail of Gari Habibullah union council.
