Aisam, Muller ease into second round

LONDON: Pakistan’s tennis ace Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and his partner Gilles Muller of Luxembourg eased into the second round of the men’s doubles event at Wimbledon with a straight sets win on Thursday.

Aisam and Muller dominated Germany’s Benjamin Becker and Venezuelan Roberto Maytin to win 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 and will next play French 10th seeds Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert for a place in the third round.

Mahut and Herbert overcame Spanish opposition in the first round, beating Nicolas Almagro and Adrian Menendez-Maceiras 1-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 on Wednesday.
