LAHORE: A Lahore High Court division bench on Tuesday dismissed bail petitions of four suspects allegedly involved in lynching of a Christian couple over alleged blasphemy at Kot Radha Kishan.

The suspects, Akram, Younas and two others pleaded through their counsel they had no link with the incident. They alleged the police implicated them in the case to show their performance and increase number of the arrested people.

A deputy prosecutor opposed the petitions and said the suspects were active participants in the angry mob that lynched the couple.

He said the suspects were identified through video record gathered by the police. He asked the court to dismiss the bail petitions. After hearing both sides, the bench dismissed the petitions.

According to prosecution, Sajjad Masih and his wife Shama, both brick kiln workers, were brutally killed on Nov 4, 2014, by an angry mob for committing alleged blasphemy.
