Pacra’s ratings for Bank AL Habib, BoP

KARACHI: The Pakistan Credit Rating Agency (Pacra) has maintained long-term and short-term entity ratings of Bank AL Habib Limited (BAHL) at “AA+” (Double A Plus) and “A1+” (A One Plus), respectively, a press release said on Monday.

Meanwhile, the agency has also assigned ‘Positive Outlook’ to Bank of Punjab’s (BoP) long-term and short-term entity ratings of ‘AA-’ (Double A minus) and ‘A1+’ (A one plus), respectively.

CIMA elects new president

KARACHI: The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has elected Myriam Madden FCMA, CGMA as president for the forthcoming year following the annual general meeting on Monday.

“Ms Madden will preside over an important period for CIMA as the organisation continues to promote management accounting in business. CIMA will be focusing on building strong links with business and other stakeholders and creating value in major cities around the world,” a press release said.

Facebook opens first Africa office

NEW YORK: Facebook announced Monday it had opened its first African office in Johannesburg as part of its efforts “to help people and businesses connect” on the continent.

The office will be headed by Nunu Ntshingila, a former executive at the advertising agency Ogilvy.

“This office will support the significant growth in businesses and people using Facebook,” said a statement from the world’s biggest social network, which has some 1.4 billion active users worldwide including 120 million in Africa.

“We are inspired by the incredible ways people and businesses in Africa use Facebook to connect,” said Nicola Mendelsohn,regional vice president for Facebook.—AFP
