SHEIKHUPURA: An alleged sexual harassment victim tried to self immolate herself on Friday outside the Nankana Saddar police station in protest at police failure to arrest the suspects.

The 35-year-old woman had submitted an application to the district police chief against three people, alleging they had tried to rape her.

The district police officer directed the Saddar police staff to arrest the culprits. As several days passed without any development, the woman set herself to fire at police station which was extinguished by passersby.

She was taken first to the Nankana District Headquarters Hospital and later to the Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, in a critical condition.

The DPO suspended Saddar Assistant Sub-Inspector Ramzan and got registered a case against him for dereliction of duty.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and ordered the police to arrest the culprits in two days.

MISSING: A factory labourer and a five-month-old boy went missing from the city on Friday.

In the first incident, factory labourer Amir was allegedly taken away by three unidentified people from Islampura.

Saddar police are looking into the mater.

In the second incident, toddler Nauman went missing from his house in Farooq Gunj.

B-Division police on the report of the child’s mother got registered a case. She said she had gone to a nearby shop leaving the child behind and when she returned, the baby was missing.
